As promised, I’ve scanned and uploaded the collection of photos that Mom had from my dad, George A. Sullivan (Ltc. Ret.). There are some familiar ones as well as others that I haven’t seen elsewhere.
I’m curious as to who took the pictures? Did the troopers take them and pass around copies of prints? Or were there designated photographers attached to the units who made the prints available to the troops?
Where I could identify my dad, I did. If others recognize other troopers, I’d be happy to label the images accordingly.

| Rows 1 thru 5A were taken in Italy, on the afternoon of August 14th, that's about the same time Bud Curtis' pictures were taken. The A company pics were "official" pics taken by some Signal Corps unit, hence the troopers not having their invasion flags, Mae Wests, nor face paint. Note that each trooper is carrying a mortar round in it's cardboard container as per Bill Boyle's order! -- Gilles G. | ||||
