Ben,There are 81 people listed on the roster by email address but no
street address.I would suggest putting this letter on Mail Call.If these
people would like to be put on the mailing list so they can receive the
roster, please send an email letter to me and I will add the street
address to your listing. There are a few who have no  email or snail mail
address. I am open to suggestions.I am hoping Bob,our webmaster will have
our roster on the website at the reunion.I am sending 50 copies of the
updated roster to the Dardens to have at the reunion. In any case,I will
bring a Floppy containing the roster.Bob

Ben:  Attending the reunion.  I have never attended a 517th reunion that I didn't meet an old compatriot that I would have made the entire trip, just to see that one guy.  This included Dan Dickinson, who with Doc Plassman bound up our 3rd Bn. wounds and Mel Zais.  It was at these reunions that I saw them again shortly before they hit the final jump zone.  I would not have that chance again.  As time passes, this becomes more likely.  Always before my S-2 section has been there in good numbers.  This time because of health problems and such problems of a spouse, I may be the only one from the section.  I know though that the trip will be well worth it.  I am looking forward to seeing old friends, but also new ones, who hooked up just as I did and slept in the same mud and snow.  See you there,  Howard Hensleigh

Ben,
I think I remember my father telling me that Walt Witt served with the 517th. I think there were several from Northern Indiana. I remember this name as well as Pete Lockhart (also passed away) and of course Melvin Biddle from Anderson.

Hope all is well. Keep up the great work on the site. I am certain that the reunion will be tremendous. I promise you that one of these days I will get to one of them.

Respectfully,
Tom Dorman

Walter Witt

Mr. Walter J. Witt, 78, of PO Box 259, Rolling Prairie, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at 10:10 a.m. at LaPorte Hospital.
Arrangements are pending with Haverstock Funeral Home.

 Dear Ben,

We have been planning to attend the reunion and had made hotel reservations, cancelling them today.
I had spine surgery two weeks ago, which could not be delayed and realize that I am unable to travel any distance.

I want you to know that I really enjoy the "mail call" and the "website" and keeping in touch with the 517th.  You have done a wonderful job!!!!!

I will miss seeing all of you and hope there will be another reunion - - we will try to make the next one.

Best wishes for a great reunion, John and Jean Russell, Headquarters lst
